What is MakeFuture?
We are a multidisciplinary industrial design studio specialising in automotive, transportation and product design. With over 10 years experience working with a diverse range of clients throughout Europe, from start-up’s to major OEM’s, we have now set-up shop here in the beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand where we continue to add world-class design value to our clients and partners.
MakeFuture is born from the obsession of design, innovation and a commitment to redefining new product. Our studio thrives on pushing the boundaries of design to create and redefine the vehicles and products of the future.
Will Nicholson
Founder & Designer
Born and raised in the New Zealand, Will grew up surfing, skating, cycling, kite boarding, snow skiing and obsessively building stuff in the shed. An obsession for making developed from this humble shed in his parent’s backyard and ignited a lifelong passion for well-designed and crafted products. Making and material exploration led to studying a Bachelor of Industrial Design with 1st class honors at Massey University in Auckland and later a Master of Design in Wellington, having received several national and international design awards along the way.
The last decade has been spent working in a variety of lead transport and industrial design roles across Europe, the UK and New Zealand. From leading the design of emergency and tourism vehicles, some industry disrupting start-ups, to designing some of Triumph’s most coveted motorcycles. In 2023 Will founded MakeFuture – a multidisciplinary design studio focused on delivering world-class design services in automotive, transportation and product design from right here in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
